Since 1993, Wolf Ridge has hosted a long-term international study of migratory songbirds. Visitors can watch the banding process, learn about bird research, and observe these beautiful birds up close. Sessions are held on summer mornings at the Forest Ecology Building, free and open to all ages. Banding is canceled on rainy days.

Learn the art of timber framing in a supportive, hands-on environment for FLINTA (Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Nonbinary, Transgender, and Agender) participants. Build essential skills, practice traditional joinery, and help raise a functional timber frame for Wolf Ridge Farm under the guidance of experienced instructor Jenna Pollard.

Spend a week with the Wolf Ridge Teacher Training Institute and fully immerse yourself in the practices of a naturalist. This hands-on summer workshop invites educators to study watersheds, participate in bird banding, explore Lake Superior’s shoreline, and develop foundational outdoor pedagogy skills. Through nature journaling and experiential learning, participants gain tools to transform their approach to outdoor education. No prior experience is required, and family-friendly options make it possible to extend the adventure beyond the classroom.
Leap Into Camp at Wolf Ridge provides campers in grades 2-3 with a supportive overnight camp experience designed for both first-time campers and those seeking a shorter introduction to camp life. Campers enjoy outdoor adventures, games, campfires, and opportunities to form new friendships.
