The Science of Reopening Wolf Ridge Safely

These three videos are from the recording of a live virtual event on Thursday, May 20, 2021. Special thanks to all of the speakers, and to the Shea family for hosting!

Masks? No masks? The recommendations from scientists continue to evolve. How does Wolf Ridge translate ever-changing conditions into COVID-safe practices for registered families, guests, and students? Since COVID arrived in the states, Dr. Benjamin Miller has helped organizations, including Wolf Ridge, develop COVID-related response plans, testing strategies, how to manage cases of illness, and ways to stay informed on the ever-changing science and recommendations. He has twenty years of experience in public health, epidemiology, and infectious disease outbreak investigations. He earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Health with a background in infectious diseases and his Master of Public Health in Epidemiology. Approximately 37 minutes.  See our COVID update page

Michelle Martin has been teaching 4th and 5th grades at Prairie Creek since 2004 and has served as lead teacher for many trips to Wolf Ridge. She grew up active in Girl Scouts and continues to emphasize outdoor education in her classroom—leading the charge for a portable desk design. Hear how she crafted an opportunity for this year’s 5th graders to get to Wolf Ridge over the summer. Approximately 6 minutes.

The Shea family has witnessed great growth and love for the outdoors through participation in Wolf Ridge’s family camps. In this short video, hear stories that will warm your heart. Approximately 6 minutes.
