Immerse yourself in the art and science of bird banding with Wolf Ridge’s seven-day adult course. Gain hands-on experience in safe bird handling, mist-net operation, aging and sexing birds, and accurate data recording using the MAPS protocol. Explore lectures on avian life histories, molting patterns, and ethical considerations, all while contributing to meaningful conservation research. Lodging and meals are provided for a fully immersive learning experience in Minnesota’s beautiful natural setting.

Spend a week with the Wolf Ridge Teacher Training Institute and fully immerse yourself in the practices of a naturalist. This hands-on summer workshop invites educators to study watersheds, participate in bird banding, explore Lake Superior’s shoreline, and develop foundational outdoor pedagogy skills. Through nature journaling and experiential learning, participants gain tools to transform their approach to outdoor education.
