National Weather Service Recognition Awards

On Wednesday, October 11th, 2023, Steve Gohde, from the National Weather Service Duluth, presented Wolf Ridge with an award for:

RECORD SNOWFALL

156.1″ of snowfall in the 2022-2023 snow season

Wolf Ridge staff were also recognized by the United States Department of Commerce for:

30 YEARS OF CONTINUOUS DATA RECORDING

  • Wolf Ridge is a certified National Weather Service coop monitoring station with one of the biggest snow data records in the state going back 30 years.
  • Our weather monitoring equipment has met the standards of accuracy and reported structures defined by the NWS.
  • Scientific research is conducted in a variety of areas, and with each initiative the methodologies and data are incorporated into curriculum, such as our weather classes, where students engage with this research.
