My journey in environmental education started after taking an internship at the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center in Fergus Falls, MN in the summer of 2007. I have since worked with other organizations that do environmental education work including nature centers, raptor programs, camps, schools, a zoo, and an aquarium.
At Wolf Ridge, I am one of a number of people who manage our lesson plans, teaching kits, and learning spaces. I am also involved with trail and forestry work around campus. My first time at Wolf Ridge was in 2010-2012 as a graduate and apprentice naturalist. I returned to take this current position in 2017.
I love being in northern Minnesota to experience all four seasons. However, the colder seasons are certainly my favorite. I love to go winter camping which has included camping with a tent and stove, cold camping in a standard tent in the snow, snow hammock camping, and sleeping out in a quinzhee for the entire month of January while I was getting my Master’s degree in Duluth. Many of my favorite warmer season activities are with my family going for hikes, camping, swimming, and taking care of the plants around our yard and garden.
