Susan Heegaard
Trustee
Susan joined the Wolf Ridge Board in June 2024. Her two children have attended camps and been counselors at Wolf Ridge. Her late father, Peter Heegaard, served for many years as Board Chair and Emeritus Trustee. Susan has a deep love for the outdoors, especially the North Shore where they have a family cabin in Lutsen. Her background has focused in the education field. She has served as president of the Midwestern Higher Education Compact since 2018, vice president and education team leader for the St. Paul-based Bush Foundation, Minnesota Commissioner for Higher Education from 2004-2009, a policy advisor under two Minnesota governors and a U.S. senator, and worked for the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, the Minnesota Private College Council, and the Minnesota Department of Education and Minnesota Planning Agency. Susan holds a J.D. from Mitchell Hamline College of Law and a B.A. in Economics and Government from Skidmore College. She enjoys hiking, cooking, gardening, reading and travel. Susan has served on many boards including Wallen Education Partners and lives in St. Paul.
