About the Photographer

I am a 30 year resident of Minnesota’s Lake Superior North Shore. A carpenter by trade, I spend most of my free time in the woods of Superior National Forest, canoeing the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and on the lakes and trails in the surrounding area, always with a camera near by. Photographing Minnesota wildlife and learning the habits and patterns of the creatures that inhabit the North Shore woods are my passion. Night sky photography including the aurora borealis is another favorite subject. Our dark night skies are a treasure and are incredible to capture on camera and see and learn about. I have published landscape and wildlife photography and video as seen in print, online, or on TV at Lake Superior Magazine, Backpacker Magazine, Minnesota Conservation Volunteer Magazine, Warner Brothers Television Productions U.K., Animal Planet, Washington Post, Virgin Atlantic Travel Blog, Minnesota Monthly Magazine, Space Weather, Capture Minnesota Books, Minnesota Outdoor News, Northern Wilds, The Agate and many other local and regional publications. I was honored to receive the grand prize in landscape for my Kelso River Sunset – BWCAW photograph in Minnesota in Seasons: A Photographic Journey through Minnesota a hardcover book printed by Pediment Publishing in 2016.
