For kayakers grades 8 – 9
This introductory sea kayaking trip will explore the rugged and beautiful bays and islands of Voyageurs National Park while learning the basics of sea kayaking on the bigger waters of the park. Two days in camp, five days on trail.
Voyageurs is Minnesota’s only national park and is an ideal place to begin experiencing big water paddling and camping. Many places in the island-dotted Rainy, Kabetogama and Namakan lakes are accessible only by boat, including the Ellsworth Rock Gardens.
Designed to introduce campers to the world of paddling a kayak on large open waters, campers will navigate and explore several miles each day in Voyageurs National Park. Campers learn how and what to pack, how to choose and set up camp, and cook delicious meals outdoors. No prior wilderness trip experience is required. What to expect on a kayak trip.
It’s easy to make new lifelong friends when you share a week in the wilderness. Many campers return for future trips with us!
Wolf Ridge trips are lead by experienced wilderness guide/naturalists. Our trip leaders are professional wilderness travelers and are certified as Wilderness First Responders, and in CPR, and Wilderness Water Safety. Wolf Ridge trip leaders are also trained as naturalists, skilled in telling the stories of the wilderness landscape, from tree and animal identification to local history, and more.
