For budding inventors entering grades 4 – 5
Invent and use your creativity while you explore the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) behind the world of renewable energy. Build electronic components to light up camp at night, power a radio or computer using manual power. Cook meals with a solar-powered oven. Design and build your own small sailboat to harness wind power. Investigate how Wolf Ridge uses renewable energy.
Experiment with designing a rechargeable battery to power circuits and light sources. Design, build, and a mini sailboat to investigate how the wind can be harnessed for power. Create electricity using photovoltaic (PV) panels to power a solar water fountain. Create a solar cooker, and explore efficiency during a bicycle “flat tire” race.
In addition to exploring the concept of needs vs. wants, campers will meet demanding personal challenges and grow as a person and a leader through activities such as rock climbing and our adventure ropes courses!
It’s easy to make new lifelong friends when you have all-camp games to play and end the day with a campfire and s’mores. And what’s more fun than sharing a meal cooked over your new inventions or swimming in Wolf Lake together? Many campers return again and again!
Campers will be able to express themselves and their own individual ideas through the creation of a variety of inventions as they explore energy and how we use it.
