SUMMARY:Bio-Blitz
DESCRIPTION:Register for Bio-Blitz Camp \nSummer Camp Website \nFor students entering grades 8 – 9 \nHave you ever wondered how many species of animals live around you? That is exactly the question bio-blitz camp tries to answer at Wolf Ridge! A bio-blitz is an event that tries to catalogue as many species as possible in a certain location. We will use the Wolf Ridge campus and will focus on a different category of animals during each day of the event\, using scientific tools appropriate for that group. This could include looking for mammal tracks\, using dip nets to collect water bugs\, binoculars to look for birds\, setting a light trap for moths\, identifying the plants around them\, and so much more. Campers will see an ever-growing list of species through their whole time at camp! \nWant some healthy competition? The two bio-blitz sessions run during the first and last weeks of camp. Who can find more species? Or\, join in on both and see what new things emerge later in the year! \nSession 1: June 23-26 \nSession 2: August 9-12 \n

SUMMARY:Timber Framing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Register for Timber Framing Workshop \nTimber Framing Workshop at The Wolf Ridge Farm\nTimber framing is the craft of joining wooden posts and beams together without the use of nails or metal fasteners. Timber frames are simple\, strong\, and elegant\, and have stood for centuries around the world. In this course\, students will learn the fundamentals of timber framing\, from the use of hand and power tools\, to the layout and cutting of mortise and tenon joinery. On the final day of the course\, students will work together to raise the completed frame\, and will go home with the knowledge and skills to continue their timber framing practice and build structures of their own.   \nStudents will be housed on site at Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center in dormitory-style accommodations with meals provided at the on-site dining hall. \nThe structure being built during this course will serve as a covered tool and equipment space for Wolf Ridge Farm. Wolf Ridge Farm grows 10\,000 pounds of produce seasonally\, which is utilized in the Wolf Ridge dining hall and distributed to the surrounding community through farmers market\, food shelf and farm-to-school programming. \nCourse instructor Jenna Pollard has taught timber frame courses in Minnesota\, Washington\, Missouri\, New Hampshire\, Vermont and Arizona\, and has been timber framing since 2010. She has built over a dozen timber frames\, from her own small cabin to large pavilions for community gatherings. She is excited to be teaching this workshop to share timber framing with others\, and to build a structure that will support Wolf Ridge Farm. \n$750 Tuition & Lunches only \n\n\n$1260 Tuition\, Lodging & Meals \nSchedule: Daily 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. \nRegister for Timber Framing Workshop \n\n
