The construction projects have begun! In August, we began construction on our new Naturalist Housing and Maintenance shop. The Naturalist House is nearly entirely framed up and the roof should be on early next week.
Our capital campaign has hit its mid-distance stride and the construction projects will soon begin; yet we need your help now to get the projects completed. The outpouring of support has been tremendous. Many lead donors have stepped in to assure Wolf Ridge continues to strongly serve those that attend our programs.
By the end of the school year the undergrad and graduate students, as well as our maintenance staff, will move out of the West Dorm. Crews currently working on the Naturalist House and Maintenance shop will shift equipment over to the West Dorm and Lake Superior access projects, seizing the most we can from the short construction season we have here in the north and saving on construction costs.
Wolf Ridge will measure our achievement with these renovated and new buildings through Living Building Challenge (LBC) certification. The LBC is the highest international standard we can pursue. It is relatively new and at the end of 2014 there were only 230 LBC projects across the entire globe. Wolf Ridge is setting our goals at the highest level we can, for our buildings but more importantly for those who reside in the buildings.
