SUMMARY:Nature Journaling in the Wild
DESCRIPTION:An Adult Weekend of Nature\, Art & Wonder\nRegister Now \n\nCome wander\, observe\, and create with us! This adult weekend gathering is an invitation to slow your steps\, sharpen your noticing\, and let the natural world guide your creativity. Along the rocky shoreline\, forest paths\, and open skies of the North Shore\, we will spend our days observing\, journaling\, sketching\, listening\, and learning – together.\n\n\nWhat We’ll Be Up To?\n\nNature Journaling – We will practice capturing moments as they happen: a leaf’s edge\, a bird’s call\, a question scribbled in the margin. Words\, drawings\, lists\, poems\, and half-formed thoughts are all welcome here.\nWorkshops with Guest Artists & Naturalists – Local creatives and educators will share their ways of seeing – through art\, storytelling\, science\, and hands-on exploration – offering gentle guidance and fresh perspectives.\nMeandering Nature Hikes – These are not ‘get there’ hikes\, but ‘notice-everything’ hikes. We’ll move slowly\, pause often\, and let curiosity set the pace.\n\n\n\nWho It’s For\nAdults who feel drawn to nature and creativity\, those who love journals – or want to start one\, artists\, educators\, quiet observers\, and curious wanderers. Anyone who wants to reconnect with the land and themselves. No experience needed. Perfection is not invited – Curiosity is. \nWhat to Bring?\nYou\, a journal\, and any other supplies you might want to spark creativity. \nCost\n$300 (programming\, lodging\, food) \nStandard lodging: shared room with shared bath (bottom bunks only) \n*Private lodging options available during registration \nScholarships available through generous support from the Jeffers Foundation.  To inquire or apply\, contact Bella.Goland@wolf-ridge.org \nRegister Now

SUMMARY:Timber Framing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Register for Timber Framing Workshop \nTimber Framing Workshop at The Wolf Ridge Farm\nTimber framing is the craft of joining wooden posts and beams together without the use of nails or metal fasteners. Timber frames are simple\, strong\, and elegant\, and have stood for centuries around the world. In this course\, students will learn the fundamentals of timber framing\, from the use of hand and power tools\, to the layout and cutting of mortise and tenon joinery. On the final day of the course\, students will work together to raise the completed frame\, and will go home with the knowledge and skills to continue their timber framing practice and build structures of their own.   \nStudents will be housed on site at Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center in dormitory-style accommodations with meals provided at the on-site dining hall. \nThe structure being built during this course will serve as a covered tool and equipment space for Wolf Ridge Farm. Wolf Ridge Farm grows 10\,000 pounds of produce seasonally\, which is utilized in the Wolf Ridge dining hall and distributed to the surrounding community through farmers market\, food shelf and farm-to-school programming. \nCourse instructor Jenna Pollard has taught timber frame courses in Minnesota\, Washington\, Missouri\, New Hampshire\, Vermont and Arizona\, and has been timber framing since 2010. SUMMARY:Bio-Blitz
DESCRIPTION:Register for Bio-Blitz Camp \nSummer Camp Website \nFor students entering grades 8 – 9 \nHave you ever wondered how many species of animals live around you? That is exactly the question bio-blitz camp tries to answer at Wolf Ridge! A bio-blitz is an event that tries to catalogue as many species as possible in a certain location. We will use the Wolf Ridge campus and will focus on a different category of animals during each day of the event\, using scientific tools appropriate for that group. This could include looking for mammal tracks\, using dip nets to collect water bugs\, binoculars to look for birds\, setting a light trap for moths\, identifying the plants around them\, and so much more. Campers will see an ever-growing list of species through their whole time at camp! \nWant some healthy competition? The two bio-blitz sessions run during the first and last weeks of camp. Who can find more species? Or\, join in on both and see what new things emerge later in the year! \nSession 1: June 23-26 \nSession 2: August 9-12 \n

SUMMARY:In The Company of Trees Forest Bathing Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Register Now \nIn the Company of Trees: The Silence that Speaks\nJoin us for a three-day forest bathing retreat at Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center in Finland\, Minnesota — one of the North Shore’s most breathtaking natural settings. From August 31–Sept 2\, you’ll slow down\, step off the grid\, and reconnect with the living world through guided forest bathing walks\, fire circle reflections\, a twilight wander under the waning moon\, and quiet time among old trees. Woven throughout is the grounding wisdom of Stoic philosophy — not as lecture\, but as a lens for noticing what the forest already knows: that stillness clarifies\, impermanence teaches\, and presence is enough. Whether you’re carrying exhaustion\, transition\, or simply the weight of too much noise\, this retreat offers something rare — unrushed time in good company\, with the trees doing most of the talking. \nAbout the Instructor:\nDavid M. Motzenbecker\, PLA\, ANFT \nFounder\, Motz Studios Forest Bathing Experiences \nDavid Motzenbecker didn’t set out to lead people into forests—he set out to design them as an award-winning landscape architect. But over time\, the quiet call of the forest became harder to ignore. \nAs the founder of Motz Studios\, David now walks between worlds—where forest and human meet\, where design becomes medicine. His therapeutic forest bathing walks are rooted in the Japanese tradition of Shinrin Yoku and blend Stoic philosophy\, design insight\, and nature’s healing power into meaningful\, transformative experiences. \nOne of ANFT’s Top Three Certified Walk Leaders globally\, David has led walks for nearly 3\,000 participants since 2018. His approach invites even the busiest minds to slow down and listen. The forest\, in his view\, is not an escape\, it’s a way back to what matters. His experiences are calm\, focused\, and deeply effective—helping busy\, high-performing individuals slow down\, reconnect\, and find clarity through nature. \n \nREGISTER NOW \nLodging Information \nDirections to Wolf Ridge

It was a place where I was most creative\, felt safe and at home. To this day\, when I find myself out of balance\, I seek time to connect to nature. \nI found Yoga while healing from a back injury. Active most of my life\, and a bit competitive\, took a toll on my body. Through the practice of Yoga I learned strength\, steadiness\, surrender and balance in my life in addition to compassion toward myself. I enjoy guiding a fun\, breath centered practice that encourages exploration of the body\, breath and heart. My teachings draw from over 25 years of study and practice in the areas of health\, wellness\, yoga and mindfulness. The practice is one that meets you just as you are\, right now. It invites a quiet exploration into courage\, strength and renewal. Get ready to experience one\, or more\, of those AH-HA moments. \n\nInstruction\, meals and lodging included.  Private room options are available for an additional fee during registration. \n\nREGISTER NOW \nLodging Information \nDirections to Wolf Ridge \n \n
