Get to know fur trade era characters from the year 1793 during this interactive and boisterous stage production. Student participation in role playing as a clerk, voyageur and Ojibwe will add to the Wolf Ridge cast. The finale is a wild rendition of the traditional “Paddle Dance”.
Outcomes
Upon completion of the Fur Trade evening program, students will be able to:
- Trace the flow of trade goods and beaver pelts across the North American continent.
- Describe the role of Native Americans, businessmen and voyageurs during the fur trade.
- Evaluate the symbiotic relationship of the early European explorers with the Native Americans.
- Learn the paddle dance.
