2008 Explorer BWCA, Kayak, and Backpack Wilderness Trips for Teens

The Wolf Ridge Explorer Wilderness program offers new and returning campers the opportunity to develop skills, gain knowledge and build confidence while paddling and hiking in wild places. During each trip, campers will take part in trail classes that explore the natural and cultural history of the area where they are traveling. Each trip is co-ed and led by Wolf Ridge Naturalist guides. Learning and fun are at the heart of every Explorer trip. What are you waiting for?

This trip will emphasize an introduction to wilderness skills while providing many opportunities to learn about the rocks, sky, trees, flowers, critters, and characters that fill the wilderness. This trip is perfect for both returning and new campers.

5 Day Superior Hiking Trail Backpacking
(entering 9-10th grades)

Lace up your boots! You never know what is around the next bend in the trail! Sweeping views of Lake Superior? Waterfalls? Moose? A ripe patch of berries? This beginner to intermediate level hike is perfect for new and returning campers.

5 Day Apostle Islands Sea Kayaking
(entering 10th-12th grades)
August 3-9, 2008; $ 650
Sea caves, shipwrecks, lighthouses, long sand beaches... Campers will become strong paddlers as we explore the wonders of the Apostle Islands by sea kayak. No experience is necessary. Wolf Ridge will provide all safety and kayak skills training.
