The Junior Naturalist Program

Looking for an opportunity to develop skills for outdoor leadership?  This year our Junior Naturalist program focuses on individual leadership development, teambuilding, and self-discovery while on a wilderness trip.  The active schedule includes time for both learning and practical application, as well as forming tight-knit friendships with a healthy dose of fun!  During each session campers participate in teambuilding and leadership training activities, work in small groups together to plan and present an activity to the rest of the group, participate in meal planning and gear packing for a 3 day canoe trip, Campers leave the week more confident of their skills in trip planning, decision making, problem solving and in many other components of wilderness leadership.

The Junior Naturalist program is one of our most popular programs. Building on outdoor science knowledge and skills, the campers investigate some aspect of the natural world in depth. Themes for these weeks are chosen and developed by experts in natural history and ecology, and are usually determined by late spring. The theme for 2008 is outdoor leadership.
